Pakistan govt. refrain from creating hurdles for Muharram - Shia Ulema Council

MULTAN, Pakistan (AhlulBayt News Agency) - Pakistan Shia Ulema Council warned Pakistani government no obstacle would be tolerated in way of mourning, asking to refrain from creating hurdles.

Addressing a joint news conference along with other office bearers here at Multan Press Club, SUC Punjab president Allama Sibtain Sabzwari said that the Shia community is concerned on arrests of workers ahead of Muharram by Pakistani authorities.

He demanded withdrawal of fourth schedule law.

He said that a ban has been imposed on zakirs (mourning reciters) and Ulema (religious scholars) for preventing them from addressing majalis which is an oppressive act.

He said that the names of those workers, who had been acquitted by the Supreme Court were put in fourth schedule which is a contempt of court.

He demanded the apex court to take notice of the situation.
